Thank you for your interest in the Red Jacket Pony Club. Pony Club is an international educational organization that supports the ideal of a thoroughly happy, confident rider with a balanced seat. Pony Club provides youth a program which teaches riding, mounted sports, the care of horses and ponies, thereby developing responsibility, sportsmanship, moral judgment, leadership and self-confidence. The Guiding Beliefs of the United States Pony Clubs are that a
member progressively develops into a well-rounded horseperson capable
of riding safely on the flat, over fences and in the open. Has
knowledge in the care of horses and ponies (horse management), is
committed to the well-being of the horse, is fair and friendly,
develops teamwork and sportsmanship and is committed to safety. The
USPC requires parental and volunteer support and involvement. Red Jacket Pony Club used to be primarily based in Lansing but
now has members residing in Dryden, Berkshire, Cortland, Ithaca, Genoa,
and Moravia. RJPC
is part of the Western
New York Region of the United
States Pony Club. We “rally” in teams, and travel all over the state. USPC disciplines include Eventing, Games, Polorosse, Dressage, Showjumping and Tetrathalon, Quiz, and Vaulting. Access to a horse and trailer is not required but access to
both is ideal. During the winter months un-mounted dens are held
to go over “knowledge” and as the weather gets milder we head outside
for mounted lessons and clinics. Offered are such things as
Quadrilles (four person dressage), mounted games, dressage,
cross-country schooling and jumping clinics. All riding focuses
on the basic balanced seat position.
